Spyhouse Coffee Wins Two Good Food Awards
On Friday, January 17th, in San Francisco, the Good Food Foundation presented Spyhouse with a 2020 Good Food Award. In the coffee category, our winner is:
Juan Domingo/Guatemala - Fair Trade & Organic, filled with flavors of currant, whipped cream, and mimosa

We are also pleased to announce that we are also a finalist for:
 
Dimtu Tero/Ethiopia - Organic, with notes of apricot, oolong tea, and orange liqueur

Judged on social and environmental responsibility, craftsmanship, and flavor, the Good Food Awards recognize that truly good food—the kind that brings people together and builds strong, healthy communities—contains all of these ingredients.

In each category, three food crafters from each region—North, South, East, West, and Central—receive the honor. According to the Good Food Foundation, “With over 2,000 entries in 17 categories, the competition is fierce. Finalists are the five highest-scoring entrants in each category from each region.” In addition, all companies that score well on taste undergo a rigorous vetting process to ensure they meet the award standards, before being named finalists or winners.

From spirits to cheese to coffee, the Good Food Awards represent a huge portion of America’s gross domestic product. The Good Food Foundation says, “The Good Food Awards shine a spotlight on the taste-making crafters at the vanguard of deliciousness and social and environmental excellence.”

Spyhouse Director of Coffee Tony Querio is happy to receive these awards. “We are grateful for our partners who knowledgeably and passionately grow the coffee we roast and serve to our customers. Juan Domingo is a farmer we discovered while traveling in Guatemala three years ago. His coffee was a staff and customer favorite the first year and it has continued to improve for three years. We are honored to see his coffee awarded by a GFA this year. We are also incredibly honored to be one of only two roasters with two coffees making the finalist level.”
