Our companion release to Kilimbi Rwanda is a naturally processed coffee from the Nyagishiru washing station in Burundi. Nyagishiru’s aim is not only to produce great coffee but also to give people a fair and living wage for doing so. Farmers who supply this station are paid 20% above the local rate, and the station workers are paid almost 60% above the rate of casual labor in Burundi. At the same time, this station has provided funds for constructing a school and health care center.
Nyagishiru reduces its environmental impact, striving to be a vital resource to farmers by limiting coffee pulp waste from processing to local farmers to use as compost. Farmers who bring their cherries to the mill also have the benefit of receiving new seedlings that will be planted to replace aged trees, maintaining the exceptional quality of the coffee.

Coffee Bio
Coffee from Burundi is highly sought after for its complex layering of bright acidity, spice notes, and cocoa sweetness. The careful natural processing of this red bourbon varietal adds a dominant, sweet fruitiness to the traditional flavor profile. It maintains a bright citric acidity rounded out by a rich dark chocolate finish.
