This Peruvian washed typica comes to us from a special microlot courtesy of Aromas del Valle. We are fortunate to have 6 of the 25 green coffee bags they produced! As a younger co-op, Aromas has benefited from the guidance and partnership with the Progreso Foundation, which provides them with strong agronomical resources through a lens of social change via the Mestiza Project. The project works to challenge the cultural roots of machismo and reinforce women's role as both the foundation and growth engine of the cooperative.

Coffee Bio

Peru's role in the world of coffee has come a long way since Jesuit missionaries first brought it there in the 1800's. Despite being wedged between two of the world's largest coffee producers, Brazil and Colombia, Peru is the world's largest exporter of certified organic coffee. High elevations, diverse microclimates, traditional plantings of Typica, and the hundreds of thousands of smallholder coffee producers give Peru remarkable potential. We're lucky to get a taste of that potential in this crisp cup of dark chocolate, cherry-sweet complexity.
