Our second offering of the year from Alex Ponce comes from the Bella Vista farm which is the sister farm to Palo Verde. Bella Vista is just 25 miles down the road from Alex’s Palo Verde but is a much smaller farm where he grows an additional 1.5 hectares of Catuai variety coffee plants.
This lot and our previous offering from Alex’s Palo Verde farm share many commonalities in farming practices, growing region, and variety. However, the slight difference in farm location still contributes to two totally unique coffee experiences. It serves as an excellent reminder of how every small detail about how a coffee is grown and handled affects the flavors that end up in your mug—something we still find thrilling and inspiring.

The Bella Vista catuai natural has a more delicate profile when compared to the Palo Verde natural. Rather than bold jammy and fruity notes, you’ll find a crisp, refreshing brightness reminiscent of a perfectly ripe D’Anjou pear along with mild honey notes and a hint of graham cracker.
