Apu, named after the Incan "Spirit of the Mountain," returns to us this year from the CENFROCAFE cooperative, representing over 2,000 producers in the Cajamarca region of Peru. Our Director of Coffee, Tony, had the privilege of traveling down to meet the cooperative board and small producers with Cafe Imports this August. He participated in an international judging panel to help the cooperative select small producer lots to submit to the annual Best of Peru competition. Apu is a multi-member lot that represents the very best selection and quality that the group produces. Peru has a long history of coffee production, but lack of infrastructure has stood in the way of substantial quality export for many years. Through many peoples' hard work, we are quickly seeing more and more exceptional coffees coming out of this exciting country.

Apu has a foundation of rich cocoa tones with subtle notes of whipped cream, caramel, and ripe peach. This coffee is incredibly balanced, sweet, and approachable. It is the perfect coffee for these cold winter days.
