Los Naranjos starts off with vibrant aromatics of fresh orange, then turning into bold cherry flavors. These fruit tones are contrasted with a vanilla creaminess and brown spice notes that remind us of oatmeal cream pies. This coffee has become an annual favorite for its wide range of fruit flavors. It is the perfect coffee for pairing with a chocolate-forward pastry such as a pain au chocolat.

Spyhouse has been working with the Asociación Los Naranjos for the past four years. The group is a wonderful example of how a well-led producer group can lift up all members. Arnulfo Leguizamo, 2011 Colombian Cup of Excellence champion, who we have featured in the past, is the most well-known member of this group and he has shared his experience and knowledge with the other members to improve their crops and raise the level of the association as a whole. In the past, we have featured lots from individual members of this group. This year, we have chosen to feature an offering from the whole group. The terroir of this region produces incredibly rich coffees with complex fruit flavors, often with a touch of wildness that makes these some of our favorites each year. As we have worked to develop our understanding of the intricate characteristics of each village in this area of Huila, San Agustín continues to be a favorite, led by the work of this exceptional group.
