Irmas Pereira, formerly known as Fazenda Serrado, is managed by sisters Maria Valeria and Maria Rogeria. Their farm is one of the most exceptional estates within Carmo de Minas. 250 of their 300 acres are dedicated to coffee production and through a combination of altitude, climate, and personal dedication they are able to produce beautiful coffees. Through their attention to detail they were one of Brazil's Cup of Excellence winners in 2002 and have maintained their quality since, producing coffees with beautiful, delicate complexities.
The largest portion of our purchasing each year is through Carmo de Minas as they make up half of our Orion espresso. However, this is the first time we have carried their coffees as a single origin offering. When researching launching our own roasting program, Christian, our owner and founder, traveled to Carmo de Minas with Cafe Imports. The farms owned and operated by Jacques and Luis Paulo have played a major role in our roasting program since before it officially began.
Irmas Pereira is incredibly rich with notes of caramel, brownie batter and cashew butter carrying a surpringly delicate, silky body and berry notes reminiscent of Cabernet. This coffee is a very refined representation of the classic Brazilian pulped natural profile. It is the perfect coffee to share with just about anyone.
