Gatuyaini is a wet mill located in in the Nyeri region representing the Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society Limited, a 785-member group. The group is comprised of 591 men and 194 women who together operate nearly 70 acres of coffee trees. While they predominantly grow SL28 and SL34, Kenya's two most famous varietals, they do have a small number of Ruiru 11 and Batian varietals in production. These latter two are generally seen as inferior to the Scott Laboratories varieties, however, in our experience we have noticed that a small percentage round out the cup profile bringing more balance to the extreme nature of Kenyan coffees.

Gatuayaini's first impression is that of sweet, crushed pineapple, and floral overtones developing into notes of fresh orange, cedar, spice, and dark berries – similar to a mulled wine. This coffee carries all the complexity that Kenyan coffees are known for with a round, rich body and dense sweetness, making it more approachable than many. It is the perfect coffee for sharing a cup of cheer at a holiday party.
